Gastronomical Adventures
It's been a few memorable days of food and friends since Saturday. I had a few cravings that were truly satisfied (song cue: Satisfaction by Benni Benassi...) over the course of past few days.It all began on Saturday morning, when Weng drove me, PC and Cherrie down to Melaka for a day trip. He had to have a look at Wendy's new shop in Jonker Walk. Wendy wanted Weng to do up the signboards for her shop, and Weng had to take some measurements and pictures.

Weng arrived at my place to pick me up at about 11am, and we made a quick pit-stop at the McDonalds before the Sg. Besi toll to grab a quick bite. After that, we made our way down to Melaka and reached Jonker Walk at about 1.30pm. We met up with Wendy, and Weng did a quick look and measured up the space for the signboard. It was a bloody hot day, and we had to walk the entire stretch of the Walk to reach Wendy's shop, as it was located at the other end of where we parked. We were all soaked to our skins when we got there. Worse yet, we had to walk all the way back because we wanted to have the famous Melaka Chicken Rice Ball. But the meal was all worth it... 5 of us devoured one whole chicken, and 5 rice balls each. Ahhhh... the first satisfaction...----------

---------Next, due to the hot weather, we headed back to Wendy's home in Melaka for some rest. After that, we were contemplating what to eat, when Wendy suggested that we could try the famous Umbai Ikan Bakar, since the place is less than 10 minutes drive away from her place. We all heartily agreed, and off we go. There were like about 10 different stalls/shops that were selling ikan bakar there, but we settled with one at the end of the street, next to the pier, by the seaside. Weng and Wendy ordered most of the food, so I don't really know what we're having, until those food came... the FEAST begins! First, we had small packs of nasi lemak, which was simple but delicious. Next, we had like 20 sticks of otak-otak, I'm no big fan, but these tasted good so I had about 3, Weng had like 10... go figure how delicious they were. Then, we had grilled Lala in chilies, fresh and tasty, although I personally preferred it to be fried with curry leaves better. Up next, we had grilled squid... and man, these were some of the freshest squid we had... crunchy to bite (not fried crunchy... but it's unlike some sotong that felt like biting into rubber). Next, we had a big siakap fish grilled to perfection... nice, juicy and meaty. I'm salivating now as I recount the dishes. Then we had like 20 pieces of large mussels and a plate of fried kai lan with salted fish. So, we had a total of 7 dishes. The price? Less than RM90! Talk about value for money! Another round of satisfaction!

We were done by 8pm and we went back down to Jonker Walk to let the girls pick up a few items from Wendy's stall. And we headed back to KL, stomachs all filled and body all tired from a hot day out in Melaka.
It was a lazy Sunday for me, but in the evening, I met up with Weng, Hui Hui and Paul for a delicious Bah Kut Teh dinner in OUG, in front of a Shell station, that's located opposite Plaza OUG. We had a nice big pot of everything thrown in, and a plate of oyster fried cabbage. They had Yam Rice, but unfortunately, were sold out. But it was simply another round of satisfaction!
On Monday morning, on a less extravagant scale, I woke up early to join Fay and Janice for breakfast at Starbucks, Kelana Jaya (in Giant). I was introduce to Cheyanne, who knew a friend of mine, Sean. So another talk of what a small-small world this is. I also had a look at the pictures and videos of the girls' outing in Genting (the birth of the Bitchesband... you don't want to mess with them...), it was hilarious. And I'm honoured that I am now being invited to join Fay for her weekly Starbucks breakfast, although it remains to be seen if I have the energy to regularly wake up almost 1 1/2 hour earlier than my routine to savour a nice warm muffin.
Today, I finally had another craving satisfied... I drive past the McDonalds in Bangsar almost daily on my way to work. I've always contemplating just drive and park (parking in the morning is aplenty, before everyone arrives at work) and go in and grab a nice McD breakfast set and nice cup of hot coffee. But most of the time, I'll be already running late for office, and I'm alone, so, I never did stop by. Until this morning that is. PC had another mishap with her car yesterday (3rd incident with 3 different cars in 3 consecutive weeks), so she was rendered carless for the day and had followed her dad to his work. I picked her up on my way to Bangsar, and since it was only 8.30am, I figured that I can do my McD breakfast this morning! And yes I did! Had a Sausage McMuffin with Egg set. Ahhhh... another satisfaction.
Oh, and I forgot that I had a yummy Decanter's Assam Laksa for lunch with my boss on Monday too... and hmmm... thinking back... I actually had the famous Sea Park's Chicken and Hor Fun on Friday for lunch... so the adventure actually started days back... and to think I missed out TCG's potato-laden dinner at Paramount on last Thursday night...
Now, what should I have for lunch today? Hungry...
